Handshake is a free job-search tool available to UW–Madison students. It is the best way for students to connect with employers, find jobs and internships, and learn about career events.
Staff may use Handshake for many reasons, including managing career events and fairs, creating student resources, supporting employers, and communicating with students. We encourage staff to be familiar with the tool so they can support student use of the platform.

How do I get access to Handshake?
UW employees (staff and faculty) can request an administrative account for back-end access to view and/or manage student profiles/activity, career events/fairs, employer information, and/or marketing and communications with students and employers. This account is typically for career services and employer relations staff who have a legitimate need to access career-related student information and data, as well as employer information and data. Student employees are eligible to become authorized administrative users.
UW employees/faculty who want to promote opportunities to students from the Handshake system can request a student test account.
Review the “Information for Staff & Faculty” section of the Handshake Getting Started KB to learn more about requesting access, the different account types, and permission role groups.
Is Handshake training required?
Yes, in order to receive an administrative account, you are required to complete the following trainings BEFORE requesting an administrative account. These trainings are NOT required for a student test account.
