The Office of Academic & Career Success coordinates and supports first-generation community gatherings for members of the advising, career services, and learning support communities.
First-gen community gatherings are designed for staff members whose parents or guardians did not graduate from a four-year college, or who identify as having had limited exposure to, or understanding of, higher education processes. This can include being the first in their family to pursue advanced studies, or being the first to attend undergraduate or graduate programs in the United States.
At these monthly, informal gatherings, we prioritize being in community, sharing resources, and connecting with colleagues across campus.
